CASE
Sisters
of Charity
The aim was to strengthen the order in the long term and attract people who share the Vincentian ideal.
The Order of the Sisters of Charity has been active in Munich for over 190 years. However, since the 1960s, fewer women have been joining the order, with the result that the average age of the sisters is now 80, which threatens the existence of the active order.
The aim is to strengthen the order and Vincentian spirituality based on charity towards others with contemporary relevance, to increase its visibility and to activate people so that the sisters can look to the future with hope.
OUR APPROACH
- In-depth understanding of the problem and assessment of the status quo through competitive analysis, qualitative target group research, and observation of spiritual offerings.
- Development of differentiated and modern positioning as well as clear target group personas (for volunteers, participants and potential sisters).
- Development of an offering strategy, including updating and redeveloping the order’s spiritual offerings.

IMPLEMENTATION
STATUS QUO ANALYSIS & STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK
Analysis of the nursing order and its competitive environment, interviews with various stakeholders, and observation of the services provided by the Sisters of Mercy enabled us to identify blind spots and derive clear strategic recommendations for the order.
POSITIONING & PERSONAS
The positioning is consistently based on the core ideas of Vincentian spirituality and translates these into the current context. The personas are based on qualitative interviews and quantitative B4P data and clearly illustrate the various target groups for the order with their needs and barriers.
OFFER DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY
Using the co-creative design thinking approach, we worked with sisters and target group representatives to revise the order’s offerings and develop new concepts. The offer prototypes were tested in qualitative market research and supplemented by a comprehensive offer strategy for communication and implementation.
