Testimonies
Pastor David and Katrina Cowger - Salisbury, NC
Over the past eight (8) years, our three daughters have had the privilege of being part of the student body (and leadership) of Fort Myers Masters Commission.
When we think of FORT MYERS MASTERS COMMISSION, we think of…
.Caring leadership: from Pastor Art, to the Leadership Team, to the Office Staff… FMMC truly cares about the lives of each and every student. They will work hand-in-hand with families to make sure that the transition to life at FMMC goes smoothly. This was evident in their: correspondence prior to our trip down to Florida, greeting at the Orientation day, assistance in unloading ALL the boxes and bins on “move in” day, and even the way they planned events to help the new students get to know each other in the first days of school.
.Being fully immersed in MINISTRY – SERVANTHOOD: Too often, Bible College graduates don’t get the hands-on experience that FMMC affords its students. This is a VITAL link between Bible knowledge and actually ministering to people. Our daughters learned that it’s often the WILLINGNESS to set up tables, serve at a banquet, or clean bathrooms at a racetrack WITH A SMILE that touches peoples’ hearts.
.Missions Trips, stateside and abroad: FMMC students have the honor of participating, and even leading, missions trips throughout the course of one school year. This helps to build a passion for missions, in the heart of each student, as it did for our daughters.
.Friendships: Our daughters have developed lifelong friends with their peers, while they attended FMMC. This is nurtured through the ISI groups, Core groups, and just hanging out! All are vital parts of their experiences at FMMC.
.A safe environment: With the student apartments being adjacent to the church/school property, there’s a built-in safety, knowing that even when there were late rehearsals, services, or game nights, they were as close as a “walk across the field.” It’s also important to note that FMMC instills, in the heart of each male student, the value of taking care of the female students. It’s nice to know that we’re not the only ones who value our daughters. :o)
.Value: Through every part of their experiences at FMMC, we truly believe that this is financially a tremendous investment. All aspects of ministry are covered: college courses, practical ministry teaching, learning a daily devotion and prayer life, intensive study in the Word… plus the hands-on participation in ministry, of all kinds! It’s something every high school graduate should experience… being FULLY-IMMERSED in God’s presence, at FMMC.
We are FANS of FMMC! :o)

I have had four children go through FMMC. It has been a big plus for all of them. They gained confidence in who they are and who they are in Christ. I feel they are now following the path that Christ would have them to do without the wasted years of doing “whatever”. (That whatever could be just not knowing what to do or getting involved in the wrong crowd.) That is worth it all. The world needs men and women of a separted walk and able to work and get along with others. FMMC is that help for the students.
When my first child went through the application process I wondered if FMMC was organized enough and would she be okay so far from home and all alone. In time I learned how FMMC is a family. They are not alone. Students are supported, taken care of, mentored, fed etc. FMMC cares for the person as a whole and takes care of them. The whole church loves FMMC students and help out in many ways. The program is not without its challenges. The students learn to depend on God and each other. Faith is stretched.
The financial part is the worst bite of the process. Yet at the same time I think it would be great if every student could go through at least one year of Masters! The Lord works out the financial part as long as the kids are willing workers. It may take time. Thankfully each of my kids have been able to pay their bills.
I asked myself why were my kids picking FMMC when it was so far away. But I have seen what an awesome program they have. I am thankful for the leadership at FMMC.
